Die in Berlin lebende, in Chicago geborene deutsch-amerikanische bildende Künstlerin Bettina Allamoda studierte Bildhauerei an der Universität der Künste Berlin und der Central/ St. Martins School of Art & Design London. Sie erhielt zahlreiche Stipendien und Preise, darunter den Villa-Massimo-Preis der Deutschen Akademie Rom, und war häufig als Gastprofessorin und Dozentin an Kunstakademien weltweit tätig.

Allamodas umfangreiches Werk wird seit über drei Jahrzehnten international ausgestellt und umfasst bedeutende Skulpturen, Reliefs, Installationen, Collagen, dokumentarische Fotografien, Siebdrucke, Zeichnungen, Videos und Performances sowie Künstlerbücher, Textpublikationen und kuratorische Projekte.

Ihre Arbeit beschäftigt sich damit, wie körperliche Erfahrung durch Medienerfahrung verzerrt wird und überträgt sie in den Bereich der Skulptur und Collage, formalisiert sie zu einer paradigmatischen, abstrahierten und doch konkreten räumlich-sensorischen Erfahrung. Bettina Allamoda versucht, die Repräsentationssysteme von Kunst, Architektur, Mode, Design, Politik und Geschichte zu erweitern und zu erforschen, wobei ihr Schwerpunkt auf der Erforschung des Raums liegt, insbesondere auf der Analyse von Material und Körpern im Raum.

The Berlin-based, Chicago born German-American visual artist Bettina Allamoda studied sculpture at Universität der Künste Berlin and Central/ St. Martins School of Art & Design London. She has received numerous grants and awards, including the Villa Massimo Prize of the German Academy Rome and been a frequent visiting guest professor and tutor at art academies worldwide.

Allamoda's extensive body of work has been shown internationally for over three decades and includes major works of sculpture, reliefs, installations, collages, documentary photographs, silkscreens, drawings, video and performance, as well as artist’s books, text publications and curatorial projects.

Her work deals with how physical experience is warped through media experience and transfers it into the realm of sculpture and collage, formalizing it into a paradigmatic, abstracted, yet concrete spatio-sensory experience. Bettina Allamoda seeks to expand and explore the representational systems of art, architecture, fashion, design, politics, and history, with an emphasis on spacial research, especially considering the analysis of material and bodies in space.
