Olaf Stüber

Seit über 20 Jahren ist Olaf Stüber als Galerist, Kurator und Sammler in der Kunstwelt unterwegs. In seiner 10 jährigen Galeriearbeit zeigte er in 73 Ausstellungen über 200 Künstler*innen und setzte schon früh einen Schwerpunkt auf das Bewegtbild (Video und Film). Seit 2009 realisiert Olaf Stüber gemeinsam mit dem befreundeten Sammler Ivo Wessel eine Reihe , die sie "Videoart at Midnight" nennen. Einmal im Monat an einem Freitag um Mitternacht zeigen die beiden Enthusiasten Videokunst im legendären Kino Babylon in Berlin-Mitte. Jeder Abend ist einer/m Künstler*in gewidmet. Der/die Künstler*in ist in der Regel anwesend. Es ist sein/ihr Abend! Mit „Videoart at Midnight“ wollen Stüber und Wessel einen Einblick in die aktuelle internationale Videokunstproduktion (Berlins) geben. Sie zeigen namhafte Künstler*innen, aber auch weitestgehend unbekannte. Darüber hinaus hält Olaf Stüber regelmäßig Vorträge und Workshops zu Video/Videokunstmarkt, kuratiert Programme für Institutionen und Festivals, ist Mitglied in einer Reihe von Jurys (Videokunstförderpreis Bremen 2009, Dokfilmfestival Kassel 2012, Videonale e.V. im Kunstmuseum Bonn 2013, u.a) und betreut aktuell das internationale Ausstellungsprojekt des Goethe-Instituts „Your Skin makes me Cry“.

Olaf Stüber has been active in the art world as a gallery owner, curator and collector for over 20 years. In his 10 years of gallery work, he has shown over 200 artists in 73 exhibitions and focused on the moving image (video and film) early on. Since 2009, Olaf Stüber and his collector friend Ivo Wessel have been organising a series they call "Videoart at Midnight". Once a month on a Friday at midnight, the two enthusiasts show video art in the legendary Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte. Each evening is dedicated to one artist. The artist is usually present. It is their evening! With "Videoart at Midnight", Stüber and Wessel want to give an insight into current international video art production (in Berlin). They show well-known artists, but also largely unknown ones. In addition, Olaf Stüber regularly gives lectures and workshops on the video/video art market, curates programmes for institutions and festivals, is a member of a number of juries (Videokunstförderpreis Bremen 2009, Dokfilmfestival Kassel 2012, Videonale e.V. at the Kunstmuseum Bonn 2013, among others) and is currently in charge of the Goethe-Institut's international exhibition project "Your Skin makes me Cry".
